It’s hard to say goodbye to summer. It’s a little depressing to have to leave behind the lazy beach days, the tank tops and shorts, and all the fresh seasonal fruit. But to be honest, I’m always a little more excited for fall. Don’t get me wrong, summer is absolutely wonderful. But fall has been my favorite season for as long as I can remember—and I swear it’s not just because my birthday is in October! I love the cooler weather, getting to wear the adorable boots I’ve had in storage all season, sitting around a bonfire toasting marshmallows with good friends, the colorful leaves…oh, and all the amazing pumpkin-flavored things that pop up everywhere. Be prepared for a barrage of pumpkin recipes in the coming weeks. You’ve been warned.

Since eating seasonally is such a big part of our philosophy here at HWTC, it only seemed right to do a post about all the wonderful fruits and veggies that autumn has to offer. Here are a few of my favorite fall produce items and some great recipes to try with them.

APPLE

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. They never said how you had to eat that apple. Good thing, because the only thing better than biting into a crisp, juicy apple is turning it into a mouthwatering drink or baked good.
