There’s a new diet in town that is becoming all the rage, but is it too good to be true? The 100 Diet, designed by Jorge Cruise, promises to help carb-aholics enjoy unlimited quantities of low-carb foods guilt free while shedding up to 18 pounds in just two weeks. The catch? All wheat flours must be substituted with almond flour, coconut flour, coconut oil, and flax meal. This diet focuses primarily on sugar intake as opposed to portion size or other things. The 100 Diet, Cruise told ABC News’ Juju Chang, is designed so that “there are new ways to have your cake and eat it too, literally”. On his website, Cruise explains,
Sugar Calories are the calories that come from sugar and carbs that spike the weight-gain hormone, insulin. Eat just 100 Sugar Calories a day, calculated by quadrupling a day’s total carbohydrate grams. Avoid Sugar Calories by swapping whole-wheat flour foods (traditional, “healthy” carbs) with Freebie-Flour foods (made from coconut flour, almond flour, flax meal, etc.) to remove all Sugar Calories and help keep you under your daily 100 Sugar Calorie allotment, ensuring you lose up to 18 lbs. fast. Eat foods like pancakes, muffins, and cakes from these Freebie-Flours in unlimited portions.
